Neha and Rohit from Rohini came into our office with a tricky brief. They were planning a trip with Rohit’s parents and a five-year-old, and everyone wanted something different. Rohit’s father wanted temples and good vegetarian food. Neha wanted Marina Bay at night. The five-year-old wanted “the Minions.”
“Can one city really do all that?” Neha asked.
Singapore can. It is compact, clean, safe and organised, and a single day can move from a Hindu temple to a rainforest to a rooftop view. This guide covers the top 21 tourist places in Singapore, grouped by area, with timing tips, honest cautions and notes on what works for each kind of traveller.
Why Singapore Keeps Welcoming Us Back

Singapore recorded 16.9 million international visitors last year, a rise of 2.3 per cent. India was among the top five source markets, with about 1.2 million visitors and tourism receipts of around SGD 1.17 billion, up 5 per cent. In the first half of this year, more than 600,000 Indian visitors arrived, out of 8.19 million travellers overall.
What does this mean for us? Singapore is a well-established favourite, so flights, hotels and Indian-friendly services are easy to find. Indian visitors also tend to stay longer than most visitors. In an earlier year-in-review, the average stay was about 6.3 days. That is a good sign that a trip of five to six days feels natural here.
Singapore Visa for Indians

Indian passport holders need a visa for Singapore, and there is no visa on arrival. The visa is applied for as an e-visa through an authorised agent. As of recent guidance, the government fee is around Rs. 2,100, plus an agent service charge. Every traveller must also complete the free SG Arrival Card online within three days before arrival. Eligible transit passengers may also use a 96-hour visa-free transit facility.
Rules and fees change, so we re-verify them for every booking. Our visa requirements page is a good starting point.
Best Time to Visit Singapore

Singapore is warm and humid all year, so there is no bad season. Still:
- February to April: Generally drier and a comfortable time for sightseeing.
- June to September: Hot, with short afternoon showers.
- November to January: The rainiest period, but also festive, with Orchard Road’s Christmas lights and Deepavali decorations in Little India.
Marina Bay and the City Centre
1. Marina Bay Sands Singapore

The three-tower hotel with a ship-shaped SkyPark is the skyline’s most famous sight. Non-guests can visit the observation deck for panoramic views, while the rooftop infinity pool is for hotel guests only. The shopping mall below has a canal, restaurants and the evening Spectra light and water show.
- Best for: Couples, first-timers, photographers
- Time needed: 2 to 3 hours
- Our tip: Book the observation deck for sunset. Check the show timings on the day, as they can change.
